How To Live Out Your Legacy

How to Live Your Legacy

Whether you know it or not, you write your legacy every day – the words you say, the actions you take, the people you love.

“Please think about your legacy, because you’re writing it every day.” — Gary Vaynerchuck

Creating a lasting legacy means paying attention to your everyday life and having fun building a lifetime of memories that will impact generations to come. Here are a few tips on how to live out your legacy each and every day:

1. Knowing Who You Are

How do you think about yourself? Knowing who you are means everything to building a lasting legacy. Start out with writing down your personality and values. Then, write out how you interact with other people and how they respond to you. Sometimes it helps to think through stories and write down traits that overlap various situations. Once you know how you think about yourself and how others think about you, then you can begin to get a better picture of who you are and what legacy you are creating.

2. Following Up with Old Connections

Following up with people and clearing away any past judgements or issues will make you feel empowered and put a smile on your face. Not only will you feel free to keep up with old connections, but also, give you a renewed sense of joy about developing and keeping relationships.

3. Being There For Loved Ones

Spend time with your loved ones – parents, children, grandchildren, friends. Everyone has a different “love language.” Consciously choose the best way to make someone feel special and loved. Why not take your youngest daughter to the movies? Or take your mom to a brunch at her favorite restaurant? Remember, it’s the little things that count.

4. Enjoy Life To The Fullest

Are you passionate about a certain activity? Don’t stop doing what you love. If you don’t have anything you are particularly passionate about, then find something. People tend to remember things by associations. If you enjoy playing tennis, people will remember and tell others. Everything you do and say impacts your story and your legacy.

5. Collect and Store Memories

No matter how many memories you have, your loved ones won’t be able to remember them all. Collect stories, photos, videos and more to store into a legacy box for your family to access once you are no longer with them.

The TriggerBox team is on a mission to help people organize and store memories to create beautiful, impactful legacies. Check out the Legacy Trigger for more information on how to store and share your memories with generations to come.
